This Privacy Policy describes how the Worldlink Diagnostic Chrome extension ("the Extension") handles user data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
We do not collect any personal information. The Extension does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal details.
The only data generated by the Extension are your speed test results (download speed, upload speed, and ping latency), which are:
The Extension performs network speed and latency measurements by making the following network requests:
| Service | Purpose | Data Sent |
|---|---|---|
| speed.cloudflare.com | Download speed test (fetches a 5MB test file) and upload speed test (sends a 500KB random data payload) | Random binary data only — no personal or identifying information |
| www.google.com | Ping/latency measurement using Google's /generate_204 endpoint (standard HTTP no-content response) |
HTTP HEAD requests only — no personal or identifying information |
These are standard, publicly available endpoints commonly used for network connectivity and speed testing. No user-identifiable data is included in any of these requests.
The Extension uses chrome.storage.local to save your most recent test result so it can be displayed when you reopen the popup. This data includes:
This data is stored entirely on your local device within Chrome's extension storage. It is never synced to the cloud, transmitted to any server, or shared with any third party. You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension.
We do not share any data with third parties. Specifically:
| Permission | Reason |
|---|---|
| storage | To save the last test result locally so it can be displayed when the popup is reopened |
| host_permissions (speed.cloudflare.com) | Required to fetch speed test data from Cloudflare's publicly available speed test CDN |
| host_permissions (www.google.com) | Required to send HEAD requests for latency/ping measurement |
You have full control over your data:
The Extension does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The Extension does not collect any personal information from any user.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
